Our Story
In 1999, whilst living in Oslo Norway, every morning Nic watched a kayaker cross the fjord near Holmenkollen. In 2000 he started his teaching career and joined the Sussex University Kayaking Club. An adventure into world of white-water kayaking followed for 10 years paddling many UK and European rivers. Its was during this time that he started his British Canoeing coaching and leader awards.
In 2002 Nic started his adventure as a MLT Mountains Leader Trainee which would lead him to gain his Summer Leader Mountain Award from Plas Y Brenin, Wales in 2010.
A year earlier in 2009 he joined the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award team at Bennett Memorial Diocesan School. After successfully managing the award at Bennett, supporting over 125 participants achieve their Gold, he gaining valuable experience running expeditions at all award levels, and in 2017 Nic Ramsden Expeditions was born. Nic Ramsden remains a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Manager, now resident at Walthamstow Hall School in Sevenoaks.
